DCache at Computing Center

Updated : 9 October 2012

DCache is a distributed disk storage system with a unique tree structure. It provides a native local access interface (dCap = dCache Access Protocol) and a standard remote access interface SRM (Storage Resource Manager). At Computing Centre, it is connected to HPSS. Then, it is used as a cache disk in front of the hierarchical mass storage system (HPSS) using tapes. DCache can also provide disk space without connections to HPSS.

DCache was installed within the LCG project and is actually available for LHC experiments only. It could be opened at all for evaluation.
