Computing services migration to Scientific Linux 3
The Red Hat Linux 7.2 platform provided by the CC-IN2P3 will move gradually to Scientific Linux 3 until June 1st 2005.
Scientific Linux 3 is already available since November 2004 at CC-IN2P3 under the batch system name "newLINUX" (with the "-l platform=newLINUX" option of BQS commands). The interactive platform is "ccalisl.in2p3.fr".
On February 21th 2005, 354 computing nodes (dual processors each) will run Scientific Linux 3. 10 hosts will compose the interactive service.
For the Batch Queueing System (BQS), Scientific Linux 3 will be known as "LINUX" (the production Linux platform). The "ccali.in2p3.fr" alias will point to SL3 computers.
The Red Hat Linux 7.2 system will become "oldLINUX". The interactive Red Hat Linux 7.2 service will be renamed into "ccalirh72.in2p3.fr". The number of its hosts will gradually decrease.
From february 21th 2005, computers under Red Hat 7.2 (around 320 machines) will move to Scientific Linux 3 at the speed of 32 computers per week until April 2005.
About 30 Red Hat computers will remain until June 1st 2005. A that date, 674 computers will be available under SL3.
