Computing: from its origins to the present day<\/h3>\n

Located within the IN2P3 Computing Centre, a national infrastructure dedicated to processing data from the largest physics experiments, the museum testifies to the commitment of the CNRS in the conservation of its computer heritage. It is one of the few initiatives of this type in France.<\/p>\n

Through panels and interactive supports, the CC-IN2P3 computer museum presents the history of computing, from the first calculating machines to cloud computing, including the first individual computers.<\/p>\n

It reveals how computer techniques dedicated to science have evolved over the years and how the needs of physicists have propelled the development of new technologies, today widely spread. It also presents the challenges overcome by the CNRS during the pioneering period of microinformatics, or how the first French web server was born on the campus of la Doua in Villeurbanne<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_images_carousel images=”847,848,850,849,852,853,854,855,856″ img_size=”large” slides_per_view=”2″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The CC-IN2P3 computer science museum is regularly visited by school groups.
