International Day of Women and Girls in Science
16 February 2026The completion of the VIL3 data centre marks an important milestone in the development of CC-IN2P3’s digital capabilities. This project was based on close collaboration with CAP INGELEC, whose expertise in the design and construction of critical data centres played a key role in the operation.
A shared ambition
VIL3 has a clear objective: to support the continuous growth in computing and storage needs associated with major national and international scientific projects.
To achieve this objective, the CC-IN2P3 and CAP INGELEC teams worked within a demanding partnership framework based on regular technical dialogue and close coordination. This dynamic made it possible to align the centre’s specific scientific constraints with technical solutions adapted to critical infrastructure standards.
Complementary expertise
Scientific computing infrastructures have specific requirements in terms of availability, energy performance, power density and scalability. CAP INGELEC’s involvement enabled these parameters to be integrated from the design phase and throughout the implementation, in line with the objectives set by CC-IN2P3 and the CNRS.
A partnership dedicated to research
Beyond the delivery of a building this February, VIL3 illustrates the ability of a public research institution and an industrial player to combine their expertise to address long-term scientific and technological challenges.
This collaboration is part of a long-term professional relationship dedicated to providing robust, scalable and strategic digital infrastructure for French research.
