Registration for JEP2026 is now open!
28 August 2026On Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Computing Center opened its doors for Journées Européennes du Patrimoine.
Nearly 1,000 visitors of all ages were able to explore the IN2P3 data center, an “unusual” place worth seeing, as described by the *Tribune de Lyon* in its recommendations for visits.
The laboratory staff worked together to lead guided tours of the computer rooms and the museum, introduce visitors to the research projects the Computing Center is involved in, and explain how a computer works.
Three lectures also highlighted the day, covering fascinating topics:
– “From the Early Days of the Web to Generative AI and Autonomous Agents” by Daniel Charnay, co-creator of France’s first website and former engineer at the CC-IN2P3
– “The Infinitely Small and the Infinitely Large” by Viola Sordini, CNRS researcher at IP2I
– “Seeing the Invisible: How Accelerators Reveal the Secrets of Matter” by Gaëlle Boudoul, Director of the IN2P3 Branch at CERN
Several partner organizations also contributed to the event’s richness by offering educational and fun activities for all ages.
It was a wonderful day of interaction and discovery with the public!
